2022 UAW International Officer Election Info
***Updated run-off info***
Ballot Distribution As you may know, in accordance with results of the UAW Referendum held in the fall of 2021 (the “2021 Referendum”), the Monitor oversaw the 2022 UAW International Officer Election in the fall of 2022 (the “2022 Election”). More information regarding the 2021 Referendum and 2022 Election is available at www.uawmonitor.com/elections. Based on the unofficial 2022 Election results, a Run-Off Election is being held for the following offices: one (1) International President, one (1) International Vice President, and one (1) Region 9 Director. On December 14, 2022, the Monitor issued the Official Rules for the 2023 UAW International Officer Run-Off Election (the “Run-Off Rules”), available here. The Monitor, in consultation with the UAW, also prepared a set of 2023 Run-Off Election Questions and Answers, available here. As was the case with the 2021 Referendum and 2022 Election, the Run-Off Election is being conducted by secret mail-in ballot. Ballot distribution began yesterday, January 12, 2023. Voters are strongly encouraged to place their ballot in return mail no later than February 17, 2023, and ballots must be received through the mail by no later than February 28, 2023 in order to be counted. The tabulation process will commence on March 1, 2023. All UAW members in good standing as of January 31, 2023, are eligible to vote in the 2023 Run-Off Election, including members who are part-time workers, reinstated members, and retired members. If you have not received a ballot by January 19, 2023, and believe you are eligible to vote, you may request a replacement ballot by visiting uawvote.com or by calling 855-433-8683. Please note that if you receive more than one ballot for the Run-Off Election for any reason, you must only return one voted ballot. If more than one ballot is returned, only one will be counted, and any other ballot received from you will be marked void and will not be counted. For more information about the systems in place to prevent the processing and counting of multiple ballots for the same member, please see the Ballot Questions and Answers document available on the Monitor’s website. Additionally, the Monitor has prepared sample copies of the official final ballot and ballot envelopes that may be used in connection with campaigning or other efforts to familiarize members with the ballot instructions. These sample copies of the official final ballot and ballot envelopes are included at the top of this email and on the Monitor’s website, www.uawmonitor.com/ballots.
International President Candidate Forum
Pursuant to the Monitor’s Candidate Forum Rules and Run-Off Rules, the Monitor conducted a voluntary Candidate Forum for the office of International President on January 12, 2023. The two Run-Off Candidates for this office, Ray Curry and Shawn Fain, participated in the Candidate Forum in accordance with the procedures described in the aforementioned rules. Steven Greenhouse, American labor and workplace journalist and writer, served as the independent moderator for the Candidate Forum.
