Region 1 has long provided classes for members and retirees to further their union education. When the COVID-19 pandemic put a hault to in-person classes in 2020, we quickly pivoted and launched an online education program.
Online classes have proven wildly successful - more than 1,400 members have enrolled in the program, completing a combined 3,500 courses since the program launched. We now offer 38 classes covering a wide range of material - there's sure to be a class that fits your interest!
Our online classes are all self-guided, and you can complete them on your own time and at your own pace. New users are added at the beginning of each month and given until the end of the month to complete as many courses as you like in the course catalog. You are also welcome to re-enroll in future months to continue taking classes - accounts can be reactivated, so you can pick up where you left off. Space is limited to active and retired UAW Region 1 members in good standing and filled on a first-come, first-served basis each month.
Classes are grouped into three series:
- Building Our Union – for members
- Standing Together – for standing committees
- Leading for Change – for local union leaders (elected positions)

You must complete the online registration form and be a UAW Region 1 active or retired member in good standing in order to participate. After registering, your membership status will be verified.
