UAW Region 1 CAP Council to Host Opening Day Kickoff Event in Detroit

UAW Region 1 CAP Council will host an Opening Day Kickoff Event on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Detroit Tigers Opening Day festivities at 2211 Woodward Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is being held to launch the 2026 organizing season and bring together union members, working families, and community supporters for a day focused on solidarity, organizing, food, and music.

Organizers say the event will feature live music by DJ Dez, along with a lineup centered on building power for working families. The flyer also highlights a partnership network that includes the 12th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization, the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization, Metro Detroit AFL-CIO, IBEW Local 58, LIUNA Building Michigan Local 1191, and UAW.

The kickoff is intended to combine the energy of Detroit Tigers Opening Day with a broader labor and community message, emphasizing union unity and grassroots organizing.
