Organizing
The right to organize is a fundamental American Right. Your federally guaranteed rights are outlined by the National Labor Relations Act: Section 7 of the Act states in part..."Employees shall have the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining and other mutual aid and protection..."
By law, you can:
- Attend meeting to learn about the union and ways to support ourselves.
- Read and distribute union literature in non-work areas during non-work times.
- Wear union insignia, like buttons, pin and stickers, at work if we are allowed to wear other buttons, pins and stickers.
- Sign an authorization card pledging our support for the union.
- Ask other workers to support our union, to sign authorization cards.
