UAW Region 1 to Host May Day 2026 Direct Action Workshop in Warren

UAW Region 1 will mark May Day 2026 with a powerful day of organizing, education, and collective action on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Warren, Michigan. The event, led by Director LaShawn English and Assistant Director Ray Pecoraro, is designed to bring union members together to strengthen solidarity and build momentum for worker led initiatives.
Held at UAW Region 1, located at 27800 George Merrelli Drive, the event will feature a STEP UP workshop focused on “Planning a Powerful Direct Action” and “Organizing for Collective Power in the UAW.” Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands on learning and discussions aimed at equipping them with the tools needed to effectively advocate for workers’ rights.
To accommodate attendees’ schedules, the workshop will be offered in two sessions. The first session will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a second session from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The event highlights key principles central to the labor movement, including power, protection, security, and balance, underscoring the union’s commitment to advancing fair working conditions and strengthening its membership. With a strong emphasis on unity and action, the gathering reflects the enduring spirit of May Day and its significance in the fight for workers’ rights.
