Labor Day Parade: Labor Unwavered

We Marched Together: UAW Local 155 at Detroit’s 2025 Labor Day Parade
This Labor Day, we at UAW Local 155 stood shoulder to shoulder with thousands of union brothers and sisters in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, celebrating the strength, unity, and legacy of Michigan’s labor movement. From the early morning hours, our members gathered near the Firestone Tire Shop at Michigan Avenue and Trumbull, energized and ready to represent our union with pride.

Our Union, Our Voice
As we joined the parade route down Michigan Avenue, our banners flew high and our chants echoed through the streets. We marched not just for ourselves, but for every worker who’s fought for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job. This year’s theme—“Michigan Labor: Unwavered”—spoke directly to our values and our history. We’ve weathered challenges, negotiated hard-fought contracts, and stood firm in our commitment to justice for working people.

A Day of Solidarity and Celebration
The parade culminated at Roosevelt Park, where we gathered with fellow unions to hear powerful speeches, including one from UAW President Shawn Fain. His words reminded us why we do what we do: because when we organize, we win. When we stand together, we build a better future—not just for ourselves, but for our families and communities.
Later in the day, many of us joined the Laborers’ Local 1191 Family Celebration on West Grand Boulevard. It was a chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the company of those who make our union strong. There were gifts, music, and plenty of good food—but most importantly, there was a sense of belonging.

We Keep Marching
Labor Day isn’t just a holiday—it’s a reminder of our purpose. We at Local 155 are proud to be part of this movement, and we’ll keep marching, bargaining, and building power for workers across Michigan. Because together, we are unwavering.
