Meet Your New Local 155 Officers

What do these Executive positions do?

President

The Big Picture: The chief executive of the local. They run the day-to-day operations, chair membership meetings, enforce the union constitution and bylaws, and serve as the main spokesperson for the local when dealing with management or the International union.

Vice President

The Right Hand: Directly assists the president and steps in to run operations or meetings if the president is absent. They often take the lead on special projects, community outreach, or specific internal committees.

Administrative & Financial Operations

Financial Secretary

The Money Manager: Handles all the local's finances. They collect dues, pay the bills, manage the budget, maintain accurate financial records, and prepare the necessary tax and audit reports required by law and the International union.

Recording Secretary

The Record Keeper: Keeps the official minutes of all executive board and membership meetings. They handle official union correspondence, maintain the local's archives, and ensure important paperwork and notices are properly posted for the membership.

Oversight

Trustees

The Financial Watchdogs: A team (usually three people) responsible for overseeing the local's property and funds. They conduct regular audits of the Financial Secretary’s books to ensure every penny of membership dues is being spent properly and transparently.

Meeting & Ritual Support

Sergeant-at-Arms

The Enforcer: Maintains order during union meetings so everyone gets a fair chance to speak. They check membership cards at the door to ensure only members in good standing enter voting or meeting spaces.

Guide

The Welcomer: Welcomes and introduces new members to the local, assists with initiation ceremonies, and helps the President maintain the proper flow of official union meetings.

39th Constitutional Convention Delegates

Delegates carry a massive responsibility. They act as the direct voice of the membership to debate, vote on, and implement the core rules of our organization. Their primary duties include:

Amending the Constitution: Reviewing, debating, and voting on updates or changes to the fundamental governing document of the union.

Setting Priorities: Voting on major resolutions that establish our union's vision, organizing goals, and collective bargaining priorities.

Shaping Leadership: Nominating candidates for the International Executive Board (IEB) and regional director positions.

Direct Representation: Ensuring that the specific workplace needs, values, and democratic rights of their local members are brought straight to the floor.

Dedicated Representation for Our Workplace Units

Because every workplace faces unique challenges, representation matters. We are proud to clarify that the following specific employers and units have their own dedicated delegates representing them at the convention:

Dakota

Dana

Flex-N-Gate

Forvia

Fraser

Magna

Mayco

Note to Members: Having individual delegates for each of these units ensures that whether you work at Magna, Forvia, Flex-N-Gate, or any of our other partner units, your specific workplace concerns are directly represented by someone who understands your day-to-day realities.

Keep an eye on this page for upcoming election notices, delegate candidate announcements, and updates from the convention floor!

Labor Parade: Labor Unwavered

We Marched Together: UAW Local 155 at Detroit’s 2025 Labor Day Parade
This Labor Day, we at UAW Local 155 stood shoulder to shoulder with thousands of union brothers and sisters in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, celebrating the strength, unity, and legacy of Michigan’s labor movement. From the early morning hours, our members gathered near the Firestone Tire Shop at Michigan Avenue and Trumbull, energized and ready to represent our union with pride.

Our Union, Our Voice
As we joined the parade route down Michigan Avenue, our banners flew high and our chants echoed through the streets. We marched not just for ourselves, but for every worker who’s fought for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job. This year’s theme—“Michigan Labor: Unwavered”—spoke directly to our values and our history. We’ve weathered challenges, negotiated hard-fought contracts, and stood firm in our commitment to justice for working people.

A Day of Solidarity and Celebration
The parade culminated at Roosevelt Park, where we gathered with fellow unions to hear powerful speeches, including one from UAW President Shawn Fain. His words reminded us why we do what we do: because when we organize, we win. When we stand together, we build a better future—not just for ourselves, but for our families and communities.
Later in the day, many of us joined the Laborers’ Local 1191 Family Celebration on West Grand Boulevard. It was a chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the company of those who make our union strong. There were gifts, music, and plenty of good food—but most importantly, there was a sense of belonging.

We Keep Marching
Labor Day isn’t just a holiday—it’s a reminder of our purpose. We at Local 155 are proud to be part of this movement, and we’ll keep marching, bargaining, and building power for workers across Michigan. Because together, we are unwavering.
