NAFTA—to put it bluntly—was terrible for working families in the United States, as well as our allies to the north and south, Canada and Mexico. The terrible deal triggered job losses, closed auto factories, depressed wages and more power for corporations across all three countries.

By now, you probably have seen the media reports about the recent DOJ investigation and indictment, which I wrote to you about last week (see the letter here).

This is certainly one of the toughest moments our union has faced in years. We are heartbroken and horrified to learn a man we knew, trusted and loved was involved in these alleged misdeeds.

As you may have seen from news reports, Department of Justice (DOJ) recently announced the results of a months-long investigation into alleged illegal activities among certain individuals associated with the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center (NTC).

The 2016 elections are over; and, as you know, Mr. Trump and the Republicans now control the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, Supreme Court, and the White House. As a group they have wasted little time in trying to change health care, trade, immigration, and Social Security.
