Important Information As You Head To The Polls Today

  1. Check out the Michigan Voter Information Center. Click here to find out if you have an election today, review your voter registration, find your polling place, and preview your ballot. 
  2. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
  3. If you already registered to vote in the city or township where you live, you must vote at your assigned polling location today. You can find your polling place here
  4. You can now register to vote or update your voter registration address until 8 p.m. today. Just go to your city or township clerk’s office and bring a paper or electronic copy of one of the following (document must show your name and address):
    1. Michigan driver’s license or personal ID card
    2. Current utility bill
    3. Current bank statement
    4. Current paycheck or paystub
    5. Current government check, OR
    6. Current government document
  5. If you register to vote or update your voter registration today, you can still vote by absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or at your polling location by 8 p.m. today.
  6. You are not required to show a photo ID to register to vote, but you may be asked to show your photo ID. If you are asked to show your photo ID and you do not have one, ask to sign a form. It’s that simple. 
  7. Michigan citizens with a criminal record CAN register and vote as long as they are not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison.
