Detroit - “Governor Whitmer understands that Michiganders are not just proud of our iconic past, but we are creating an iconic future in manufacturing.

And she understands the importance, here in Region 1A and around the State, of growing our Middle Class economy and at the same time remembers those retirees that made us a manufacturing marvel worldwide.

Detroit - UAW Ford members worked diligently and remained dedicated to produce the finest built products in the world during a year that presented great challenges due to the pandemic and unprecedented supply chain issues. Their contributions to Ford Motor Company’s profits under such conditions are to be commended and our members should be very proud of this great accomplishment.
Detroit – “Through their negotiated contract, UAW members today received news that they will receive up to $10,250 in profit sharing. This benefit was achieved through collective bargaining and our UAW members have earned a share of the prosperity that their skill, hard work and dedication created. Our members should be proud during a challenging year at this achievement. We continue to talk to our local unions and General Motors about some of the unforeseen challenges UAW members faced this year.”
My sisters and brothers, This great union of ours and all of our UAW family, past and present, have a long and cherished legacy in fighting for the civil rights and equality of all Americans and all peoples of the world. It is one of the founding principles of our union and we have much to be proud about.

Detroit - “Today’s announcements of GMs investment in the GM Lansing Delta Township Plant and the GM Lansing Grand River Plant is a down payment on future work as we transition to new technologies in the auto sector. The placement of the Ultium battery plant will center our region as part of our Nation’s technology future and we look forward to welcoming those members into the UAW. Today’s announcement will not just be remembered for the Lansing region, it will transform our area into the jobs of the future.

Brothers and Sisters, On Monday, we celebrate the great sacrifices and life-changing contributions of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His vision was one of inclusion, of nonviolence, of respecting the rights of each and every one of us and championing the fact that we are all Americans.
